Switching from Rated People

Your Rated People account is gone. The next one should be yours.

Rated People is reported to have entered liquidation in September 2026, and the accounts of the trades on it were closed the same day. The leads stopped, the profile went, and the reviews stayed on a platform you never owned. A website you own cannot be switched off by somebody else’s administrator.

The honest picture

What you have today

The leads stopped without notice

Tradespeople report their accounts being closed on the day the company entered liquidation, with no run-off period and no refund route beyond the liquidator. Any credit paid in advance sits with the insolvency, not with you.

The reviews stayed on the platform

The rating in the name was theirs. Years of reviews earned on your jobs were on their site, and a customer who looks you up now finds nothing where they used to be.

Checkatrade bought the brand, not your membership

Checkatrade is reported to have bought the Rated People name and website. That gives the homeowner a redirect. It does not carry your account, your reviews or your leads anywhere: a Checkatrade membership is a new application on new terms.

With a site you own

What changes

1

Every enquiry is yours alone

A customer who finds your site and calls has chosen you. There is no shortlist and nobody else quoting for the same job.

2

Reviews build where they travel with you

Your one-tap review requests point at your Google Business Profile. It is yours, it is what customers check first, and it goes with you whatever else you subscribe to.

3

One fixed price, whatever comes in

The plan is one price a month with no fee per lead and no minimum term. Fifty enquiries cost the same as five.

4

Your domain, in your name

The domain is registered to you from your first payment and everything on the site exports in one click. No company stands between you and your own customers.

What does not change

Your past customers still have your number, and if you have a Google Business Profile it is untouched: this is the moment to ask those customers for a review there, where it is yours. Whether you also join another directory is your call and this does not ask you to make it. The site is yours either way, and nobody else can close it.

One price, nothing to look after

£49 a month plus VAT: build, hosting, SSL, backups, security updates, uptime monitoring, instant enquiry alerts, review requests and a monthly report, all included. No setup fee, no minimum term, no fee per enquiry.

No setup fee, ever. Domain, site, content and reviews yours from your first payment.

Questions people ask before switching

What happened to Rated People?

It is reported that Rated People entered liquidation in September 2026 and that Checkatrade bought its brand and website the following day. Tradespeople report that member accounts were closed on the day of the liquidation and were not carried over. We have not seen a statement from either company that says otherwise, so we describe it as reported rather than confirmed.

Can I get my Rated People reviews back?

Not as reviews. The platform held them, and the platform has closed. What you can do is ask the customers behind them to say it again on your Google Business Profile, which is yours and which is where the next customer looks anyway. We set you up with a one-tap review request and a QR code for exactly that.

Should I just join Checkatrade or MyBuilder instead?

You can, and plenty will. It is a separate decision from this one. A directory is somewhere to be found while you are a member; a website is somewhere to be found that nobody else can switch off. Most of the trades we talk to want both, and the site is the half they did not have.

How quickly can a site be live?

We rebuild your homepage free within 48 hours so you can see it before you pay anything. If you go ahead, the full site follows and the domain is registered to you from your first payment. There is no setup fee and no minimum term.

What does the website cost?

£49 a month plus VAT, with no setup fee, no minimum term and no fee per enquiry. That covers the build, hosting, SSL, backups, security updates and uptime monitoring. Before you pay anything, we rebuild your homepage free so you can judge the work first.
