Supper by candlelight,
seven miles from anywhere

Seasonal British cooking in a 17th century pub. Menus change with the market, the fire is lit from October, and Sunday lunch sells out by Thursday.

Everything is cooked from what the valley gives us: estate venison, watercress from two fields over, bread proved overnight and baked before service. The menu below is this week's. Next week it will be a little different, and that is the point.

A plated seasonal dish on a rustic wooden table

“The kind of pub you plan a walk around. We booked for lunch and stayed until the candles came out.”
